Please Know...

As I come to know these fine people, they share with me more of their personal and sensitive stories. Their collective story is what I am trying to share with you as my way of breaking the stereotypical beliefs that exist. "Blog names" have occasionally been given to me by the person whose story I am telling. Names are never their actual names and wherever I can do so, I might use the opposite pronoun (his/her, etc.) just to help increase their privacy.

Abuse of A Father

The longer I'm out on the streets of Kensington, the more I hear accounts of a biological father (and uncles) 'knowing' their young relative in ways that they never should.  Less frequently, biological mothers are just as guilty - not necessarily in ways of sexual violation.

Imagine being barely in your double-digit years and hearing that biological relative tell you:

"Your nothing but a piece of meat for me to use for my own needs."

Imagine realizing in retrospect that you had been fed drugs as a  young child by the woman who was supposed to keep you safe.

The end result is a level of confusion and rage that can not be captured in the words of a blog.  Self numbing through drug use becomes a reasonable way to handle this mind-blowing indescribable agony consuming the soul of our street bound loved ones.

Abuse is not always sexual in nature of course...

David Meece is a child abuse victim and survivor.  He's also a contemporary Christian music artist.  I've been distributing his songs recently as part of my song sheet collection.  I struck a nerve with several people who started to read even before they walked away from my car.

You can hear David's story and his path to healing in his own words here:
